Caryl LeRoy Harris, 89, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2021 at his home in Middleton, Idaho.
Caryl was born August 28, 1932 in Boise, Idaho to Ershel and Alice Harris. He was the youngest of 5 sons. They moved to the family farm in Eagle, Idaho, when Caryl was 2 months old.
In 1952 he graduated from Meridian High School where he played the trumpet and wrote in the orchestra.
He met the love of his life “Ann” at age 17 at the Letha Ward Dance and knew immediately they were meant to be. Caryl went to great lengths to date his future wife, and they were married on February 2, 1951. They had a treasured bond that lasted a lifetime and celebrated their 70 wedding anniversary this year. . They were always next to each other and you rarely saw them without each other, giving their family a great example of true and selfless love.
Caryl and Ann’s love for music was expressed with and through her children with a family band.
Caryl learned to work hard on the family farm, but also to love basketball and baseball. He played and coached his children and grandchildren, sharing his love of games. Caryl enjoyed fishing, hunting and spent many hours boating with his family and loved ones on the water.
Caryl was always ready to help whenever the need arose. Whether it’s borrowing a car, tool, or trailer, teaching Scouts how to build a toolbox, or asking ‘do you need the money? Caryl was ready to serve when there was a need and he especially enjoyed serving in the Boise Idaho Temple.
His legacy continues through his wife, Anna Mabel Rose Harris and their 7 children; LeAnn Mart (Chase), Eileen Willis (Dean), Jeannie Law (Jerry), Terry Harris (Nancy), Kathrine Crossley (Mike), Troy Harris (Wendy) and Gordon Harris (Debbie) plus 36 grandchildren and 94 great-grandchildren. Sisters-in-law Margret and Ardys Harris are also survivors.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ershel Lawrence and (Alice) Emma Albertina Owens Harris, his brothers, Ershel Farrel (Eunice), Lawrence Edwin (Marian), Joseph Eldon and Alfred Ray Harris.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Middleton East Idaho Stake Center, 1332 Cornell Street. Family viewing will begin at 9 a.m. and will be open to friends and associates at 10 a.m. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, Idaho. Funeral services provided by Flahiff Funeral Chapels, Caldwell.
