Here is Chelsea and Liverpool combined XI.

Chelsea and Liverpool are due to face off in the Carabao Cup final at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon.

Both clubs have spent the majority of the season chasing a Premier League title – the latter looking the most likely – but are now eyeing the trip to Wembley Stadium.

Both teams are in fine form, with Chelsea unbeaten in seven games, while the Reds have not lost since losing to Leicester City in December.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Thiago Alcantara, Thiago Silva and NGolo Kante have shone this season and hope to replicate their performances on the big stage.

Today’s result is unpredictable, but who has the best players on paper?

Here’s our combined XI…

Goalkeeper – Edouard Mendy

It’s very difficult and either goalkeeper could be in the XI, but I think Mendy is more important for Chelsea than Alisson is for Liverpool.

The 29-year-old was a big part of the Blues’ Champions League triumph last season and has conceded just 14 Premier League goals this term.

Right-Back – Trent Alexander-Arnold

TAA vs James has been one of the most talked about debates this season and for me Trent wins every time.

The Liverpudlian is the best right-back in the world and there should be no talk of his inclusion – especially as Reece James has been injured since November.

Centre-backs – Virgil Van Dijk, Thiago Silva

I would be surprised if either group of fans would object to Virgil Van Dijk being in that backline.

The Dutchman has been incredible for Liverpool since joining from Southampton and has gone on to become one of the best defenders in the Premier League.

Thiago Silva’s form with Chelsea surprised many given his age.

The 37-year-old joined for free in August 2020 and has been very impressive, improving his defense and making him much harder to break down.

Both Antonio Rudiger and Joel Matip have been brilliant this season, but Thiago Silva has won for me.

Left-back – Andy Robertson

Again, the left-back position is easy.

Ben Chilwell had been very good for Chelsea until he got injured, but Andy Robertson is on another level and forms the second half of Liverpool’s exceptional back duo.

Midfielders – Thiago, Fabinho, N’Golo Kanté

Thiago and Fabinho have been at their best for Liverpool this season, with the former still unbeaten when he started for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The pair have been instrumental in some of Liverpool’s best performances this season and have proven to be an incredible signing for the Merseyside club.

Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders in the world and his long list of honors shows exactly why he is in this team.

Wingers – Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane

Sadio Mane’s inclusion has been difficult as he certainly hasn’t been at his best this season.

However, I haven’t been too impressed with Chelsea’s forwards this season and their poor form is why Mane is there.

Mohamed Salah also needs no explanation.

Striker – Diogo Jota

Diogo Jota has been an incredible signing for Liverpool.

The former Wolves star was expected to be a backup option for the Reds, but it wasn’t long before he became one of their most successful players and replaced Roberto Firmino at the top.

The Portugal international has 12 league goals this season and Liverpool fans will be praying he’s fit for tomorrow’s game.
