Edith M. (Carter) Lima, 91, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness on Thursday, March 31, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Robert M. Lima, with with whom she shared 68 wonderful years of marriage.
Her compassionate spirit and passion in life was to care for others. She especially loved sitting by the pool, cooking and watching the enthusiasm of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Reading a good book or engaging in a daily crossword puzzle was his area of comfort.
At the age of 86, Edith took to the computer and learned Facebook, where she enjoyed interacting with all her family and friends, as well as shopping online.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert M. Lima; his son, Bob and his wife Debbie; her daughter, Sandy and her husband Richard; as well as her granddaughter, Laurie DesRoches and her husband Eli; his grandsons, Alex, Richard and the late “Bobby”, as well as his many great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at the hospice and all of their loving friends, especially “Donna”, who all helped to make her comfortable.
All are invited to his visiting hours on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford. A private family service and burial will follow Monday at Pine Grove Cemetery.
