Encanto sets a new British record for Disney


ear worm Encanto, ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’, became the very first original Disney song to enter the UK official chartis the first place!

The song features vocal performances from Rhenzy Feliz, Adassa, Stephanie Beatriz, Mauro Castillo, Diane Guerrero, and Carolina Gaitan; which, ironically, are all about Bruno.

Now it has become the first original Disney song to reach number 1 in the chart’s 70-year history, and has racked up 6.3 million streams in the UK this week.

The song also marks the first song from the soundtrack by Disney and composer Lin-Manuel Miranda to reach number 1 on the chart.

Beatriz who expresses Encanto’s The central character, Mirabel Madrigal, was pictured in London today with her Official Charts Company number 1 award for the track, which you can check out above.

Celebrating the news, Lee Jury, Senior Vice President, Studios Marketing, Music Group & Stage Shows EMEA at Disney, said, “We’re thrilled to have our first Disney Number 1 original single of all time with ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno ‘.’ from Encanto.”

He continued: “This is another captivating and infectious track written by [Miranda] and we are so proud of the success of the film and the soundtrack.”

Speaking of another chart-topping track from the same magical musical, Lee added: “Not to mention ‘Surface Pressure’ […] which is at number 5. To have two titles in the Top 5 is more than we could have expected… may the success continue!”

The film’s soundtrack also secures two more Top 20 spots this week – with Jessica Darrow’s “Surface Pressure” at a new high of number 5, and Beatriz and Merediz’s The Family Madrigal up 14 spots at number 15.
