High School Musical: The Musical: The Series was praised for his gay relationship, and now he’s made Disney history with his first explicitly LGBTQ + song.
In episode 10 of season 2, “The Transformation”, Seb feels insecure in his relationship with Carlos. So what does the latter do? Sing him a love song to prove that he is truly invested in them as a couple.
It’s a big moment for the characters and the series – something that actors Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos) and Joe Serafini (Seb) are all too well aware of.
Talk to Weekly entertainment, the cast talked about ‘In a Heartbeat’ and its impact, Rodriguez saying, âOh my God, it’s amazing and obviously it’s so needed.

âIt’s so important to have people to turn to,â added Serafini. “Especially if you’re in a situation or an environment that maybe is less tolerant, to see that ‘if I have these feelings so are others’ and there is hope.”
The two actors said that they really want to do a duet in the future and that they sometimes confuse their own relationship (they started dating after they started working together) with that of their characters.
