Lizzo Releases A “Special” Album And It’s Everything We Wanted And More

Lizzo’s fourth studio album, Specialdropped today, after the singer revealed the highly anticipated tracklist last week.

The 12-track album features hit songs, such as the summertime anthem “About Damn Time” and aptly named “Special.”

Other tracks include “Grrrls”, “Break Up Twice” and “Everybody’s Gay”, all of which send an uplifting message. “About Damn Time” is currently number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Radio Songs chart.

Ahead of the release, the “Good As Hell” singer revealed the album cover via her Instagram page.

On Thursday, July 7, she shared a video clip of herself dancing by a pool wearing an embellished mask that protected her face.

The camera then turned to Lizzo holding a black and white image of herself with a beaded headdress which turned out to be an image from her new album, and she then flipped it around to show the list of rear tracks.

‘It’s a 10 but you can’t get it until July 15 [sic]’,’ she captioned the clip.

There was speculation her pal Harry Styles would feature on the album, which came after Lizzo praised Styles’ “Harry’s House.”

She said: “He put all of Harrussy into this album.

I love his new album.’

On March 13, after serving as the keynote speaker at SXSW Festival, Lizzo announced on Twitter that she had “mastered” and finished her album.

She shared a photo of herself in the studio looking ecstatic with her hands in the air.

At the time, she wrote, “I came home after an amazing #SXSW and mastered my album.

I’m officially done with my album [sic].’

She previously revealed that she had cut her list of 12 songs for the album by 200.

“A lot of interpersonal things happened, a lot of things happened in the world and I think I had to process that. The way I deal with things is through writing the music. So I was writing these songs, but I just needed to keep going until I found my sweet spot and what the world needed to hear.

The Grammy winner added, “I also wanted to do a full album.

“I didn’t just want to do a bunch of singles or random songs that I thought were the coolest. I wanted to put together a real body of work so I could do a classic album because I just want to do only classics. I love my music and I want to continue to love my music.

Lizzo said Variety in February that she was surprised that her new album was about love.

Without sharing anything about her own love life, she apparently suggested that her music reflect her love life.

She said: “I’m always very personal, like I’m talking to my friend on the phone with really good music behind me.”

The sequel: “I will say this: this is a love album.”

His last album Because I love youreleased in 2019, was a testament to her ability to conquer her fears and build her self-esteem.
