Meet the indie bands that Louis Tomlinson Stans

Louis Tomlinson is a man truly after our hearts. We can list a number of reasons why we are so stans (hell, We already havemore than one time), but one thing we really need to discuss is his support for the local music scene. It’s no secret, since everyone remembers when he showed major love for our boys. 5SOS during the A direction days.

But the support for small groups didn’t start and stop there. Over the years of his solo career, Louis has used his main platform to shout out acts to his millions of fans. We thought we’d take a look at some of the groups he’s shown love to and add some support!

Only the poets

From Reading, England, Only the poets are an unsigned band consisting of Tommy Longhurst (vocals/guitar), Clem Cherry (guitar/vocals), Andy “Roo” Burge (bass/vocals) and Marcus Yates (drums/vocals). The band opened for Louis on their first world tour earlier this year on the European leg. Louis and the band had a great friendship and Louies still shows a lot of love for them, many attend their flagship tour. There’s no better feeling than discovering a new artist through your favorites!

Nuts

Formed in 2015, The Snuts are a four-piece indie rock band from West Lothian, Scotland, consisting of Jack Cochrane (vocals/guitar), Joe McGillveray (guitar), Callum “29” Wilson (bass) and Jordan “Joko Mackay (drums). Louis first shared his love for the band in response to fans asking about his favorite performances at Glastonbury, and soon after the band backed him for his shows in Mexico. They then supported him during the very first Festival far from home in 2021, and Louis still regularly shows his support for the group. We love to see it!

Solarium

Louis’ love of small groups isn’t just local to him. So-Cal-based garage rock quartet Sun Room hit the road with Louis as they opened for him for the US leg of his first world tour. They are made up of members Luke Asgian (vocals/guitar), Ashton Minnich (guitar), Max Pinamonti (bass) and Gibson Anderson (drums). The band also performed at the second Away From Home festival in Spain in August 2022.

We advise you to listen to: ‘Sol Del Sur’, ‘Summer’s Here’ and ‘Clementine’.

Knowing that Louis has a good knowledge of small bands on the scene, fans will often take the opportunity to ask him for new recommendations, which is the first time we’ve seen Bilk. Last year. The Essex trio is made up of Sol Abrahams (vocals/guitar), Luke Hare (bass) and Harry Gray (drums), and was announced on the lineup for the first Away From Home Festival in London in 2021. are currently preparing their debut album to be released early next year.

Vaccines

The Vaccines are an indie band from West London consisting of Justin Hayward-Young (vocals, guitar), Freddie Cowan (guitar/vocals), Árni Árnason (bass/vocals), Timothy Lanham (guitar/keyboards/vocals) and Yoann Intonti (drums), and Louis has been a fan for some time. He shared love for the band’s 2018 album, and earlier this year the band joined the Away From Home festival lineup.

We recommend listening to: “I Always Knew”, “If You Wanna” and “Want You So Bad”.

Pacific Avenue

Australian-born Pacific Avenue is made up of Harry O’Brien (vocals/guitar), Jack Kay (bass), Dom Littrich (drums) and Ben Fryer (guitar). The band recently found themselves touring Australia as Louis’ backing band. The alternative rock band had a lot of love from their Australian audience and are currently heading to the UK for international gigs.

We recommend listening to: “Leaving For London”, “Something Good” and “Easy Love”.

Maruja

Louis does more than just shout out groups on his social media, and Maruja is a great example of that. Consisting of Harry Wilkinson (vocals/guitar), Joe Carroll (alto saxophone/vocals), Matt Buonaccorsi (bass) and Jacob Hayes (drums), the local alternative rock band from Manchester was recently the victim of a tour theft while that his equipment was stolen. As a small group, they had no support to deal with the situation and created a GoFundMe to replace their equipment. That’s when Louis stepped in and donated £4,000 to the fundraiser, bringing the group to their goal. Louis really has a love for little artists!

VOODOO

Glasgow band VOODOOS is made up of Piero Marcucilli (vocals/guitar), Scoobs (guitar), Marc Mclaren (bass) and Marco Conte (drums). The band had the opportunity this year to perform at Louis’s second Away From Home festival in front of a crowd of 17,000 with whom they shared “the best time we’ve had as a band”.

PIERRE

Liverpool indie band STONE consist of Fin Power (vocals/guitar), Sarah Surrage (bass), Elliot Gill (lead guitar) and Alex Smith (drums). They’re another lucky band who were invited to perform at this year’s Away From Home festival. Speaking of them to the official charts, Louis said, “This time, [for the festival] we had STONE. It’s really important to me and it was part of the thought process behind Away From Home. They have loads of amazing support slots right now; it’s like they’re really having a good time. For me, music like that is very interesting. It’s different from what 75% of other artists do, and it excites me. I’m lucky to be in the position I’m in, so championing new music and new artists is something that’s really important to me.

HNDS

Spanish indie rock girl band HiNDS is made up of Carlota Cosials (guitar), Ana García Perrote (guitar), Amber Grimbergen (drums) and Ade Martin (bass). They headlined the 2022 Away From Home festival to a crowd of attendees from around the world. Speaking about them ahead of the gig, Louis shared his excitement, “For me, it’s something I’m interested in anyway, an all-female band, I think there should be more. So, I’m really excited to see them play.

Milburn

Indie rock band Milburn has a fan in the person of Louis Tomlinson. Consisting of Joe Carnall (vocals/bass), Louis Carnall (vocals/rhythm guitar), Tom Rowley (lead guitar) and Joe Green (drums), the band was originally active in the early 2000s. Louis shared his love for the band in 2015 saying how sick they “always seemed!” Coincidentally, the band reunited in 2016 for their third album. Now, we’re not saying it’s thanks to Louis, but heck, having someone like him asking his fans to listen to your music has to be motivation, right?

We recommend listening to: “Cheshire Cat Smile”, “Last Bus” and “Time”.

hollow creeks

In 2015 Louis showed the love in a tweet for hollow creeks. The Australian duo consists of Ryan Henderson and Matt Carins who sing and play guitar. Louis showed love for their “really cool” folk sound, urging 1D fans at the time to listen to them.
