Optus unveils a charitable program to donate your device

Optus announced Donate Your Device which invites everyone to donate unused or old smartphones to the people who need them most.

Having constant on-demand access to a smartphone is an integral part of the daily life of so many people. Unfortunately, however, many Australians are technologically left behind with no smartphones or internet connectivity available.

Doing its part to alleviate this problem, Optus invites everyone to help bridge the digital divide with Donate You Device, a free in-store service.

While your old phone might be in the trash or set up to pick up dust somewhere in the house, a donation of a spare handset could help connect loved ones, provide access to education, open up the possibility. new job opportunities and helping to transform a corner in someone’s life.

Launched with charity partner Good360, Optus will pair the smartphone with a Donate Your Data SIM card, which includes unlimited calling and texting on an Optus prepaid SIM card so that whoever receives it is ready to go.

All you need to do is bring a phone to an Optus store and the team will make the donation easier by erasing all data to prepare it for its new home.

Optus Managing Director Matt Williams said: “Optus is proud to work with our customers to empower Australians in need to realize their potential by providing them with the essentials needed to thrive in a digital world. “

All Australians deserve to be connected and Optus and Good 360 are working to bring real change to the community.
