This Thursday, the Bayside Business Association will honor two longtime business owners with a day of networking and golf.

The BBA has announced the return of its annual Golf Classic to Clearview Golf Park at 202-12 Willets Point Blvd. September 23. This year, the event will simultaneously celebrate the retirement of Jon Schenck from the Jon Schenck State Farm Agency and Frank Scordo from the Scordo Allstate Agency.

Scordo and Schenck are both members of the BBA and are retiring as business owners after 35 and 46, respectively. Proceeds from the Golf Classic will go to the charities of choice of the winners, Transitional Services of New York and The Tourette Association of America.

The day of activities begins at 11:30 am with registration and a barbecue lunch, which includes remarks by Senator John Liu. Golf begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun tee-off, followed by an outdoor dinner, open bar, raffles and prizes starting at 6 p.m.

“We are delighted to be able to host our outing again this year and look forward to having a great day reconnecting with our members and friends. 2020 has been a very difficult year for everyone and in particular for the business world. We see this as a chance to celebrate their resilience and take a break for some fun. Frank Scordo and Jon Schenck have contributed to the success of BBA for many years. They are two very deserving recipients and we are delighted to be able to celebrate their accomplishments, ”said BBA President Ed Probst.

The BBA has served the business community since its inception in 1997 and is considered the most defining force in the formation of the Bayside Village Business Improvement District. Over the years, the nonprofit has also incorporated art into beautification projects such as street cleaning, tree planing, and graffiti removal.
