Sanford Performing Arts Center Presents ‘Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story’

More than 22 million people across the country enjoyed this national production, stopping in Sanford for a Saturday morning, November 13.

SANFORD, Maine – The Sanford Performing Arts Center kicks off the first of its 12 Partners Bank Spotlight Series shows of the season at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 13 with the touring nationwide production of the wellness musical “Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story. ” Tickets are on sale now.

The show tells the true story of Buddy’s meteoric rise to fame, from when “It Will Be the Day” aired on the air in 1957 until his tragic death less than two years later, “the day the music died”. In just 18 months, the Texas-born boy revolutionized the face of contemporary music, influencing everyone from the Beatles to Bruce Springsteen.

The show features over 20 of Buddy Holly’s greatest golden rock ‘n’ roll hits, including ‘That’ll Be the Day’, ‘Peggy Sue’, ‘Everyday’, ‘Oh Boy’, ‘Maybe Baby’, “Not Fade Away”, “C’est si Facile”, plus “La Bamba” by Ritchie Valens and “Chantilly Lace” by The Big Bopper.

“When we opened the show, we never imagined that his music and story would still rock the stages and entertain audiences around the world week after week over 25 years later,” said Buddy’s widow, Maria Elena Holly. “I believe this is a testament to a great show and the enduring appeal of Buddy Holly and what he stands for: youthful energy, tremendous talent and creativity, combined with a determination to make a lasting impression in this. world.”
