Set your favorite song as your iPhone alarm clock

0

Apple devices like iPhones and even iPads can make great alarm clocks, especially if you’re not very happy with your current alarm situation. They’re easy to program for a variety of times, you can set your own alert sounds, and they’re often by your bedside anyway, especially if you’re used to charging devices overnight. Apple alarms even let you specify a song to start playing as an alarm, letting you use any song available on the device and beyond! Let’s see exactly how to choose the song you want and set up a personalized alarm for your mornings.

Open the Clock app

You should be able to find the Clock app on your iOS or iPadOS home screen, although some people may have moved it to make room for other apps. It is easy to find because it looks like a round clock and is called Clock. We’ll leave the rest to you.

Access your alarm

If you want to change the sound of an existing alarm, you should see the alarm in a tab inside the Clock app. Select the alarm to continue.

If you are creating a new alarm with the song you want, select the plus sign in the upper right corner instead to create a new one.

Select sound

Check its settings to make sure your alarm is set correctly. You’ll want the right time, the right tag, and when you want the alarm to repeat (daily, or just weekdays, for example). You can also choose whether or not to activate a snooze option for the alarm. When the alarm sounds good, select the Ring option.

Choose a song

The first section is called Songs and will show the current song you are playing (if any) and other recent song choices. Look for the option that says Choose a song and choose it. This will immediately take you to your device’s library.

You can choose any song you have in your library. Note that it doesn’t need to be downloaded to native storage to work, but it must be playable through your music settings. It means you can’t choose any song you want, for example Apple Music or Spotify – it must be part of your library.

If you already have a song in mind, this part should be easy. Just make sure it’s in your library and search for it by title or artist.

If you’re not sure which song to choose but know you want to change it up, it’s a good general idea to look for songs that start soft and increase in volume over time. When you find the song you want, just select it.

Check the results

Your alarm will now display the new song as the chosen melody. The song will also immediately start playing so you will know how it will sound when the alarm goes off. You can also check one of the other recent song selections you’ve made or choose an entirely different song to see the results.

When you are satisfied, tap anywhere on the screen and the alarm will be recorded. As you can see, it’s an easy process if you ever change your mind. The key is to make sure that the song you are interested in is available in your library.
